Problem: Print previewer displays a blank screen.
EasyRoyalties displays reports using your computer’s PDF reader software. Many personal computers ship with Adobe Acrobat Reader installed.
If PDF reader software is installed and you see a blank screen when previewing a report updating the Adobe protected mode settings or repairing the PDF software installation will likely resolve the issue.
If PDF reader software is not installed print preview will show a blank screen. This situation is likely to occur if EasyRoyalties is accessed via a remote desktop connection to a Windows server. You can download and install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software from https://get.adobe.com/reader/.
Solution 1: Adobe Protected Mode
By default, Adobe Reader X runs in Protected Mode. In certain situations Reader experiences compatibility issues with anti-virus software when that software intercepts some system calls for the Reader sandbox. In these cases, Reader could fail to open or crash after displaying an incompatible-configuration dialog. The Reader will cause the EasyRoyalties software to crash after the user exits a blank print preview screen.
To see if this is the problem open the Adobe Reader application. If there is an incompatibility with your system configuration the Adobe Reader Protected Mode window will appear. If it does, temporarily change the Adobe Reader Protected Mode to Always open with Protected Mode disabled until your anti-virus software is compatible with Adobe Reader. Adobe is working with anti-virus companies to resolve these problems.

Solution 2: Repair the PDF Reader Software installation
Repairing the PDF software installation fixes missing or corrupt registry entries.
You can repair Adobe Acrobat via:
- Adobe Acrobat Help menu
- Windows 10 Settings menu
- Windows Control Panel
Via Adobe Acrobat
Open Adobe Acrobat. From the Help menu select Repair Installation.
Via Windows 10 Settings
In Windows 10 go to Settings. Select System. Select Apps & Features. Select your PDF application (Adobe Acrobat Reader). Then select Modify. Select the Repair installation errors in the program option.
Via Windows Control Panel
In Windows 7, 8 or Windows 10 go to the Windows Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program. In Windows 10 you can access the Control Panel by typing Control Panel in the Ask Me Anything box in the toolbar at the bottom left of the windows screen. From the list of programs select your PDF reader software. Then select Change. Select the Repair installation errors in the program option.
Solution 3. Simple Document Viewer
The Preferences > Personal Preferences > Document Previewing tab allows the user to select either the PDF viewer or the Simple viewer to preview reports. If you are experiencing a print preview problem and your company IT policies do not allow you to execute Solution 1 or Solution 2 without their approval you can switch to the Simple viewer until the IT staff can resolve the issue.
The Simple viewer offers fewer preview tools and controls than your computer’s default PDF viewer. If Adobe Acrobat Reader’s protected mode is incompatible with your anti-virus software you can use the Simple viewer to preview reports.
