Sales files received from distributors may be denominated in foreign currencies. The Amazon KDP royalty report can contain earnings expressed in one, five, ten or more currencies. Likewise for Apple iTunes or Google Play sales files.
EasyRoyalties will convert sales denominated in foreign currencies into US dollars ( or the specified home currency) if provided with the exchange rate (1 USD = X Foreign Currency).
When sales files are imported the EasyRoyalties a popup window will prompt the user for the exchange rates if the rates are not specified in the import file or the EasyRoyalties Exchange Rates table. If sales records are created manually you can select the sale currency from a drop-down list in the sales record and specify the exchange rate.
Where can you find the historical exchange rates to use for a specified sale date (month)?
One source is X-Rates. The X-Rates website provides access to historical monthly average and historical daily exchange rates.
TIP: If you use a single date to record a month’s sales you can use a single exchange rate (i.e. the monthly average) for each currency.
